Elixir Welcome Luke On Bass

Elixir are delighted to announce that Luke Fabian will be joining the band on bass. After auditioning several worthy candidates, Elixir guitarist Phil Denton said “Not only does Luke have a natural talent and great technical ability, we could also feel his energy and power driving us through the songs and it felt very natural playing alongside him. We feel confident that Luke will be the right guy to continue Kev’s legacy and also go forward together with us on the next chapter of the Elixir story”.

All of Luke’s musical projects and bands have been centred around sub-genres in modern and extreme metal, and although he remains in his band Pupil Slicer, Elixir marks a departure from this trend. Luke added “Hearing NWOBHM material got me into playing as a young teenager, so I am excited to join Elixir and look forward to gigging and recording with the band, to keep the flag of true, old school British Metal flying”.

Elixir wish to thank founder member and bass player Kevin Dobbs for his massive contribution to the band over the years, and Kev will be performing one last show with Elixir in London next spring, details of which will be announced in September. In the meantime, Luke will commence work on new Elixir material for a prospective release early next year, and will perform live with Elixir at next April’s Keep It True Festival in Germany.

New Elixir 3CD Box Set

Elixir have been busy behind the scenes on a number of projects recently. The first to come to fruition is the re-release of their second album in a lavish 3CD box set through Cherry Red's Hear No Evil label. CD1 is the now rare and discontinued 'Lethal Potion' album. This was Elixir's second album as it was originally released in a diluted and re-mixed form. CD2 is 'Sovereign Remedy' which is the complete second album as the band originally intended it to have been and with it's original title. "I felt that combining the two albums in one package would be interesting to the listener so that they can compare the two different releases" says Elixir's Phil Denton. It is well known that the second album was recorded by a different line-up to all other Elixir albums. Mark White was brought in on bass shortly before recording, whilst former Samson and Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr sat behind the kit. "I thought that the Elixir Live album would be good to complete the set", adds Phil, "as there are a number of songs from the second album played by our best known Denton/Dobbs/Dobbs/ Gordon/Taylor line-up. As this is the line-up that created and was playing these songs live before the second album was recorded, I thought that again it would make for an interesting comparison to the listener". The box set is completed by a poster featuring many unseen photos on one side and the story of the making of the albums by NWOBHM expert John Tucker. The set is released on July 26th 2019, and can be pre-ordered by clicking on the link here.
